Another Giant Post!

Hello Everyone!

So for the past 2 weeks I’ve actually had a bit of free time to work on what ever I wanted, so i experimented with some processes I hadn’t ever done before! (in photoshop at least!)

So each of these drawings were about 15-20 mins each minus the more complex ones which were about an hour

 

Note that is all production design for a private project I’ve been working on with Brendan (the other guy who never posts!)

So first up is the Kaiten!

These guys are essentially robotic bugs who are made of an alloy known in this universe as Kaiten so their name follows.  The idea behind them is they have 2 modes, Standard Mode which is essentially an insect and the second which is Weaponized where a portion of their body reforms into a weapon (Differs from insect to insect)

Next up is Grant and his new development!

Grant who’s the sole survivor of a Kaiten attack at age 9 survives out in the wilds for 10 years before he’s found by our second protagonist; Elsa.  Grant is determined to find out what happened to his parents and friends all those years ago and this obsession with closure will send him to some dark places including becoming the thing that destroyed his home;  The Kaiten King.  The KK is the figurehead of the Kaiten.  He invokes his will upon them, being able to speak through them and take over full control from afar

Next up is a small portion of Elsa! nothing really changes…

 

And finally for the first time!  Bonnie’s Development!

Bonnie is our protagonist engineer, who’s figured out a way to deconstruct Kaiten parts and reconfigure them into armor and weaponry.  Shes obsessed with upgrading her own gear and figuring out new ways of integrating new weapons into her attire.  She chooses a more classic look to her outfit because “Why not look good dispatching Kaiten?”

Tentatively she has an eye for Thorn which turns into relationship later on

So this first image was before her character re-imagining, I have no idea what happened to her proportions

 

These final set of images i couldn’t really fit anywhere above but feature some key things in the new development of this production.

Daily Practice!

So from here on out I’ll be doing a daily thumbnail of visual development for 2 productions.  The first is Union and the second is Untitled at the moment.  I’ve added new tabs at the top of the page so feel free to check them out!

I should also note, the goal is to keep each thumbnail under 15 mins.  Practice practice!  The idea is to each day come up with a new shot angle and scene all the while getting faster and better!

Turn-Arounds everywhere!

Finished up some work on the long awaited Grant and Elsa turn-arounds and introducing for the first time “The Patrol Bot”.  Patrol Bot is the antagonist of the Union production

Loura Silhouettes and the Gang!

So after much discussion and character research I’ve come to find I need to let characters be who they need to be rather than who I want them to be.   Such as re-purposing Stag’s old design into a completely new character and giving him a personality to match it.  So after a night of tea and drawing, here’s a brand new set of silhouettes…

 

And I couldn’t help myself so I did the whole gang in Silhouette

Color Tests and School work!

As the title suggests I’ve been dabbling in some color tests for Elsa; the first time her character has ever seen color.  I’m pretty happy with the results thus far.  I plan on doing a few more before mixing and matching.

As far as show production goes, after much discussion and rewriting Stag has been changed from his beetle form into a much more relate-able and far better designed character (pics soon.TM)

The first official episode is almost finished being written and myself and Hayworth are VERY pleased with where the story line is headed! Thanks Musashi! <- Hint.

I’ve also been working on a few character designs for a school project, and my first official animation client!  We’ve been taking pre-established characters and redesigned them in our style.  I of course grabbed Sally from Nightmare before Christmas,  The Big Lebowski guys and a few others.
